Hashtages and handles are Twitter’s secret sauce for finding jobs and internships. Knowing a few simple techniques will launch your career. First, a quick overview of Hashtags and handles. Then, my favorite search methods.

What are hashtags and handles?

Twitter hashtags, #, are searchable words or phrases. Individuals and organizations purposely place hashtags in tweets as bread crumbs to attract information seekers.  Some organizations give suggested hashtags in their BIO to encourage sharing and micro-communication. Other hashtags are created by the larger community for macro-communication. Check out www.hashtagdictionary.com for definitions of macro communication terms. The top current hashtags are viewed in the trend box, left column of your home page.
